ニート・ひきこもりは、メディアを賑わすような「怠け」の類では断じてありません。
彼らはややもすると、一般人よりも真面目なのです。しかし彼らの多くに共通するのは
「生活面の才能が極端にない」と言う弱点があり、その上で
「羞恥心が非常に強い、人の評価を異常に気にする、人の態度や言葉に傷つき易い」
のです。その共通性は、類似を超えて、一種の疾患や障害にさえ感じます。
それらの性格がその弱点を、人に伺い克服する機会を阻み、深い交友関係も築かせず、
結果「基礎的な生活能力・知識」に極度に欠ける事態を生んでいます。
そう言った人達に、いきなり職業斡旋だ就職案内だは全く無意味です。
彼らが真に欲しているのは、実はそれ以前の「基本の自信」なのです。
悩みに耳を傾けず無茶な要求をいきなり突きつけて、従わないと
「えり好みしている」「働く気がない」と責め立て彼らのせいにする。
そう言う場面を幾度も目にしてきました。親ですらそうなのです。

・引っ越し⇒不動産の利用・契約の仕方、敷金など
・一人暮らし⇒炊事洗濯の仕方、服を自分で買ったことがない、電気通信各種契約の仕方
・出張、遠出⇒飛行機・新幹線の乗り方、ホテルの利用の仕方、浴衣の着方
・地理、移動⇒車の知識、近所しか地理を知らない、時間通りにつけるか
・付き合い⇒幹事とは何か、店の予約の仕方、携帯・クレカの契約・利用知識、飲み会・カラオケへの恐怖
・社会人マナー⇒挨拶の仕方、上座下座、スーツ・靴のメンテ、電話の受け答え、税関係

社会常識がないことを恥入り、それを知られ軽蔑されることを
脅迫障害的に極度に恐れ、若い間に経験する機会を持てずにいたのです。
そのまま「訊かぬは一生の恥」の年齢に達し、完全に歩を進められなくなったのです。
日本人は、悩みにすら線引きをしたがり、許せる枠から外れた悩みには途端に狭量で残酷となり
ひたすら批判の手を緩めず、「甘え」と罵るだけで教えることを拒み続けます。
それを悟っている彼らが打ち明けられず成果が出ないと、それさえも彼らのせいにするのです。
絶対に嘲笑せず「生活訓練」で不安を取り除く、たったそれだけの優しさで人を救えるのに、です。"
